Remarks: A second round of application (deadline 31 May 2010) may be conducted if places are available. However, applications received before the initial deadline will be considered first.
† Combined mode: Local students taking programmes in combined mode can attend full-time (12-18 credit units per semester) or part-time (no more than 11 credit units per semester) study in different semesters without seeking approval from the University. For non-local students, they will be admitted to these programmes for either full-time or part-time studies. Non-local students must maintain the required credit load for their full-time or part-time studies and any changes will require approval from the University.



Programme Aims and Objectives

The primary aim of the programme is to provide aspiring managers, from both private and public sectors, a professional education, in which their managerial competence and skills can be elevated, to better enable them to achieve their career goals. The MBA programme goes to the heart of modern management practices. It offers an experience-based learning approach, which looks behind the technical and analytical skills to the successful strategies used by managers in arriving at and implementing decisions for the rapid transformations in today's marketplace and organizations.


Entrance Requirements

Applicants must: 

  • hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • possess at least 3 years of work experience; and
  • have an acceptable GMAT score or the equivalent, subject to the approval of the MBA Programme Director.

 

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

  • TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test); or
  • Overall band 6 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
  • Score 450 in the new College English Test (CET6) of Chinese mainland or a pass in the old CET-6 test; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications

All shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview.

^Participants need to pay the cost for transportation and meal in addition to the credit unit fee required for the course.

Note: Participants who have more than 3 courses with Grade C or below; or more than 2 courses with Grade D or below may not be granted an MBA award unless they retake those courses to improve the grades in accordance with the University regulations.


Bonus Features

The Enterprise Diagnostic Residential Trip provides participants with the opportunity to apply their knowledge on a 10-day consultancy trip to an organization outside Hong Kong. The exposure and exchange of business know-how on the Trip are invaluable for career development.

 

Through the Professional Forum, participants are exposed to distinguished leaders from the business community to share views on core management issues and challenges.

 

MBA Project provides an excellent opportunity for participants to relate theory to practice and to demonstrate enhanced managerial competence.

 

MBA participants will have the option and valuable opportunity to gain international exposure and learning experience on the UC Berkeley campus in the United States by attending a 5-day Advanced Management Programme delivered by academics of Haas School of Business. 

 

Participants with recognized master’s degrees from relevant business disciplines may get credit transfer for equivalent courses up to 50% of the credit load of the MBA programme.
