Despite our polytechnic background, every professor in this team is devoted to conduct fore-front fundamental researches at the international level before and after one's appointment.  Our ability in conceiving innovative ideas is reflected by the superb success in getting external research grants and industrial sponsorships. When the Competitive Earmarked Research Grant was launched in 1988, we were awarded the largest and the second largest grants in engineering disciplines, amounting to more than one half of the funding in the area of electrical and electronics engineering. We are glad that this tradition has been upheld year after years.  With these supports, we are able to made major contributions in computational electromagnetics, patch antennas, dielectric resonator antennas, helical antennas, microwave components, ferrite devices, synthetic chiral materials, remote sensing, electromagnetic band gap techniques, linear low-noise amplifiers, and energy efficient transceivers for mobile communications. Over the year, we have published more than a thousand papers in top-notch peer-reviewed journals and presented approximately an equal number of articles in international conferences, collectively.  Among them are two outstanding papers in IEEE Transactions and over ten prize-winning presentations in international conferences.  On top of the honors and prizes received, our influence in the academic community is demonstrated by the frequent citations of our works, including some classical ones with a hundred citations.
