When do I need to find a job for ITPP?
The job search normally starts at the beginning of the second semester of the second year. We will provide a list of Placement Companies with details such as the job nature for our students to choose.
Do I need to attend an interview for getting a placement job?
Yes. It is important for both the company and student to know each other as the student will become a one year contract staff of the company when he is employed.
Is the ITPP interview very competitive?
Normally not since the Placement Companies already promise to take in a certain number of students. If a student fails in the interview, we may send another student to the company for interview.
When will a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science student choose his Study Stream?
Normally it is before the start of the second year.
Is it possible to change a Study Stream?
Yes. You may change your Study Stream after every semester.
Could I have more than one Study Stream?
Yes. It is possible to have two Study Streams. In this case, you need to satisfy the requirements of the two streams and need to have a good planning in taking the CS elective courses.
Is the Final-Year Project compulsory?
Yes. All BSc (Hons) Computer Science students need to complete the course Final Year Project. It is a one-year long course.
If I want to join the Overseas Student Exchange, normally, when a student will go out for Overseas Student Exchange?
Most students will have their overseas exchange in the first semester of the second year.
Do I need to spend more time, i.e., more than four years, to finish the programme/major if I join the Overseas Student Exchange?
Normally, not. A student joining the overseas exchange programme will take courses in an overseas university. After finishing the courses in the overseas university, he/she will receive credit transfer for the corresponding courses in our programme.
Do you provide financial support for Overseas Student Exchange?
Yes. The amount of sponsorship depends on the region/country of study. For the US and Europe, the amount will be higher while the amount for Asia will be slightly lower as the living costs vary from place to place.
How many students will be selected for Overseas Study Tour?
In 2011, 14 students joined the study tour to Southern California with financial support from the department, each student paid HK$5,000 for the 8-day study tour.
